How does botox work?

Botox is a type of neurotoxin like dysport xeomin and juveau. The way neurotoxins work is by temporarily paralyzing the muscle preventing it from making strong contractions and thus preventing facial movements that form deep wrinkles.  Once the neurotoxin has been injected into the muscles, it can take 5-14 days to reach the full effect and can last up to 4 months.Patients may resume all normal activities 24 hours after treatment. Common side effects, as with all injectable products, include swelling, bruising, bleeding, and itching at the injection site. For more information or to book an appointment, call our office today.

What is Filler?

Fillers are safe, gel-like injectable substances that smooth creases, fine lines, and wrinkles by adding volume and fullness to your face. They are simple cosmetic injections that instantly plump the area that is treated to give you a more youthful, fresher look with minimal downtime. They can be used alone or in conjunction with Botox treatment to plump your lips, fill your cheeks, enhance your jawline, and many other cosmetic indications to reduce the visible effects of aging. NP Tabitha performs all filler injections. The effects of dermal fillers can last 6 to 12 months depending on the type of filler being use before needing a touch up. The lifespan and overall effectiveness of your dermal filler treatment depend on your physiological makeup which is why we recommend a consult with NP Tabitha before beginning treatment to discuss goals and expectations.

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a popular non-invasive skin rejuvenation treatment that involves the use of a device called the Skin Pen. The Skin Pen is a handheld tool that contains fine needles that create micro-injuries in the skin. These micro-injuries stimulate the production of collagen, a protein that gives skin its structure and elasticity.

One of the main benefits of microneedling with the Skin Pen is that it can help improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and acne scars. It can also improve the overall tone and texture of the skin, making it appear smoother and more youthful.

Other potential benefits of microneedling with the Skin Pen include:

  • Reducing the appearance of pores

  • Improving the effectiveness of skincare products by increasing their absorption

  • Treating hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone

  • Boosting collagen production for firmer, plumper skin

What is the Microneedling procedure and what is the downtime?

During a microneedling treatment, the Skin Pen is used to create a series of pinpoint punctures in the skin. The treatment is typically performed on the face, neck, or chest, and takes about an hour to complete.

Microneedling with the Skin Pen is generally well-tolerated and has few side effects. Some people may experience redness and mild swelling immediately after the treatment, but these effects should resolve within a few hours. It is important to follow your skincare provider's post-treatment instructions to ensure optimal results and minimize the risk of complications.

Overall, microneedling with the Skin Pen is a safe and effective way to improve the appearance of the skin and achieve a more youthful, radiant complexion.

What is PRP and PRF?

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is a derivative of your own blood. It’s a solution that is referred to as autologous meaning it comes from your own body. NP Tabitha will draw a blood sample and then prepare it in a centrifuge by spinning it down to separate its components into red blood cells, white blood cells, and densely packed platelets in plasma. This specific part of your blood is rich in growth factors and healing properties that stimulate your body's production of collagen and elastin, strengthening tissue structure and integrity. Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) is similar to PRP but the blood is spun at a different speed and different factors in the platelet clotting process are harvested and used.

How is PRP used in conjunction with microneedling?

During a microneedling treatment, PRP is applied to the skin along with the use of tiny needles to create controlled micro injuries in the skin. These micro injuries stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, which can improve the appearance of fine lines, acne scars, and uneven skin tone. PRP works in conjunction with microneedling to enhance the skin's natural healing process and improve the overall appearance and texture of the skin. The PRP is applied to the skin after the microneedling treatment and helps speed up the healing process and improve results. This treatment is minimally invasive, has little downtime, and can be effective for a variety of skin concerns.
